Hair dye being absorbed?

I'm a natrual brunette, but I've temporairly dyed my hair red once before. I want to temporairly dye it black but my mom says no, that It'll be absorbed into my hair [meaning it'll still stick around after 8-12 washes]. Is that true? The red never stuck around.

As long as you use a temporary dye, it will wash out eventually. It will take longer than red -- red is an unstable color and fades faster, and as it fades it blends well with your natural color. Black will be less attractive as it fades as it makes your natural color dull and flat. If you really hate the fade process, there are shampoos at the salon that will speed up the fading, but they are a little harsh and should be used only for that purpose.

no, it won't be black forever, if it is permanent then you will have to let it grow out but if it's a temporary one it will wash out like any other colour

hhhmmm no i dont think so, try the colorpulse electric black by l'oreal, it'll fade into a purple.

granted black is hard to get out (trust me i've had it done twice) but thats more with permenent dyes. red always comes out quicker so the black may stick around for a little longer but it will wash out if u use temporary dyes.

I have naturally red hair, and i dye my hair a dark red. Red hair dye fads really really fast. Black takes longer to fade out. I guess its just something about red hair dye. I can deffinetly tell within a week that my hair is different then when i first dyed it red.

Maybe you should try going lighter. Some golden blonde highlights look nice on brunettes.

the black semi permanent color will takea year %26lt;litteraly%26gt; espeially with blonde hair to get out... when i was in 8th grade WAY bak when... i died it black, then even over a year later, when i decided to go blonde again, the stylists had a lot of issues with tryin to get rid of the remaining black.. im not sure about the temp stuff tho... but i would never risk it again personally, it sucked, but good luck, maybe if your a dark brunette it wont be so bad,.

Beware of black dyes. Yes it is true that they often will not wash out. Black is notorious for clinging to the hair more than other colors. If this happens all you can do is have it stripped or let it grow out. Another problem the 8-12 wash black dye has is it may wash out partway leaving your hair a grayish green color.

Sally Beauty Supply sells a rinse that comes out in about 14 days. It's calle Beautiful Collection by clariol. Think twice though, why black?
