Hello, I dyed my hair however the results are not at all what I wanted. It is very light on the top (light brown) and then there is a virtual line across the last quarter of my hair which is very dark and did not respond to the dye at all (perhaps because my hair was dyed black a year ago and this is leftover dye?). My hair is naturally dark brown and I was trying to get it lighter. I used L'Oreal (#TB63) which is "meant for dark hair only". I bought another kit and just did the darker parts over again but they did not get much lighter. My idea was to either a) bleach the bottom part that is darker then try using the same colour dye on just the bottom part or b) to replace the peroxide that comes in the bottle with a stronger one and then re-dyeing the darker parts (the one in the bottle is 30, I was thinking of getting a 40)
Does anyone have any clues of how I can get my hair more even without going to a professional and how long I should wait before attempting this? Thanks!
Hair dye that turned out very uneven....?
It will be impossible for you to do it on your own. You really have to go to a salon to do a corrective colour. You can try the option (a), but the colour will still be uneven, because you will not be able to apply it evenly on your own without extra help and calculate the right timing. You should go to salon this time.
Next time, you can avoid this problem by applying the colour on the middle of the hair shaft first (1 inch away from the scalp and 1 inch away from the ends), wait about 15 minutes; THEN apply to the roots area, wait another 15 min, and last apply to the ends for the last 10 minutes. The timing is relative, but the described procedure is standard if you want your colour to come out even. This is hard to achieve if you work on your own, because you can't see the back and the sides.

i'd say see a professional. you don't want to mess this up anymore.

Color will not lift out artificial color. It has to be pre lightened to desired level and then another color put on it.

You should stop with all the chemicals. Go see your hair dresser :]
She will know just what to do and it will turn out better than the hair dye you can buy at the store because most of the time, people get different color tones and arn't happy. Good luck and i hope you get what color you're looking for! :]
