I dye my hair at home and its ok, but one of the instructions on the box is that you must rinse the hair until the water runs clear. I have found that whenever there is a hint of red in the colour I choose, the water does not run clear, I could be there for hours and the water still has a tinge of red in it. I dyed it yesterday, rinsed it as much as i could, I then had a shower this morning and the water was pink tinged. Does anyone else have this problem, or am I just lacking in stamina?

Nah, your not the only one, it happens.
The water is clear enough, don't fret about it, i don't think it will run completely clear till it is completely set.

Yeah, that happens to me too. I just do it until it is mostly clear. The water has color in it the next day even if i get it done in the salon. Red hair colors do not bond easily to hair so the more you rinse with red, the more color is coming off your hair. I would rinse it until the water runs mostly clear, then leave your hair and do not wash it for at least a day after you dye to let the color attach better.

Yeah that happens to everyone!

Hair Dye at home?
nah just wash it a bit and then leave it, the dye will prob run out a bit everytime you wash it for a few weeks now. The more you wash it excessivly the more you are making the dye fade use colour care shampoo as well not any anti-dandraft and certainly not head and shoulders all those strip colour from your hair

Same happened when i dyed my hair red.

Wash it out as best you can and just wait for it to start behaving. Also, use a darker red than you are actually wanting. 9.9 times out of 10, if you color your hair red, it takes about a week to get the actual color you wanted on it to begin with. Leave it on the prescribed time limit.

Just wash it till you think the colour is out. The water could run red for upto a week afterwards, you may even see it on the towel you have used on your hair. This is normal dont worry. The pigment in Red colour are much smaller than any other colour so they attatch easier to your hair, red is also harder to cover which is for the same reason. Hope this helps :-)
