Is hair dye bad for your scalp? Not they permanant just the wash out kind? I just wanted to know if it could do any damages or anything! I'm thinking about getting my hair dyed so I just wanted to know before I do something really really stupid!!!!

It's not bad for your scalp, unless you are sensitive to it (allergic), however, dyes can be damaging to your hair, especially if you go lighter than your natural hair color, but if you follow instructions you should be fine. The wash out kind, however, I don't think they're as damaging.

BTW, they all have instructions on how to do a sample test to see if you're allergic to it or not, and also to see what color would it leave your hair looking like, as every natural hair leaves a different shade even when using the same dye. I do encourage you to give it a try, especially if you're going with the temporary kind, it's not hard to do at all, and you may even like the new color.

the trick is not to get too much on your scalp. if it's the wash out kind, it's not as bad, but it can definately burn! it can also cause flaking, and that's just not any fun. either have it done professionally or get some help from a friend to make sure it stays off your scalp.

Some hair dyes can dry out your scalp. If you have a sensitive scalp it is probably best to go with a natural or sensitive dye.

any kind of hair dye is bad for ur scalp. permanant, semi-permanant or wash-out. but hair dye will only do serious permanant damage when used long term.

Hair color will not harm your scalp in most cases. Bleach on the other hand might. It all depends on if you have sensitive skin or not. If you question this, do a patch test. Mix up a small amount of equal parts of your color, and put it on the inside of your elbow. After 24 hours, if the area is red, you may have a possible reaction to the color.

The damage to your hair is minimal with most color. You can expect your hair to be dried out. After all, it IS a chemical treatment.
