Helpppp! - it's about hair dye!?

okay, i've dyed my hair about 4 or 5 times at the salon, but not permanent dye, just highlights, and i'm needing it re-done. i've noticed that my hair has been falling out every time i blow-dry it - it's getting really bad. i don't know if this is normal or does it mean i shouldn't keep getting highlights? i thought i'd be safe because it's not permanent hair dye, but i just want to be sure. i'm also scared that i'm allergic because i've heard awful stories after people have dyed they're hair. is it okay if you get it done at a salon rather than DIY packets? please help with my questions, thanks!

OK HI LITES REQUIRE USING DYE SO THAT IS DAMAGING TO UR HAIR AND TOT OUCH THEM UP DOES DAMAGE TO BUT IF YOU USE A REALLY GOOD CONDITIONER YOU WILL BE OK~~YOU CANT KEEP LOOKING NICE AND TAKING A SLIGHT RISK TOO ITS NORMAL TO LOOSE UP TO 500 STRANDS OF HAIR A DAY LONG TIME UP SCALE STYLIST HERE

Ok, chances are that if you have highlights then they are done with bleach, which is permanent haircolor. Usually if you want your highlights more than 3 or 4 shades lighter than your natural haircolor they would have to use the bleach. Unless what you have are are highlights that are darker than your natural color in which case they should use semi permanent color. As far as the bleach highlights go, which sounds like what you have it's the bleach that is causing it. If you keep getting it done over and over you should only highlight the roots, if you highlight the whole strand each time it will cause it to break off and fall out, or the bleach is left on to long. I would just make sure you get a really good deep conditioner, and not pantene or anything over the counter, it is full of wax and will coat your hair to make it feel soft but will only be causing more damage. My adice, pay the money to get the good stuff, it's worth it, and take a bit of a break with the color till its feeling better. I've been a hairdresser for 8 years, seen it all!

Some people do have a reaction like her loss. It could be do to the ammonia. I use ammonia free hair color. I don't believe just because one gets it done at the salon it to be better. Unless it's something like high lights or difficult to do oneself. The only way to know for sure if the hair loss is do to coloring your hair. Is to stop for awhile like 2 months. If the problem stops than it was the dye.
