I have been dyeing my hair with Bigen-Oriental Black and now want to let that dye grow out as apparently you are not able to bleach it out or do anything with it.
Do you think I can dye the new growing hair with a regular jet black dye since those are bleachable? Will it harm my hair if the dye happens to touch parts of the hair previously dyed with Bigen?
yes you can dye it but i dont think you should let it grow and then cut the dark out
My school is very strict about their dress code.
We wear uniforms and can't have odd piercing and girls can only have ear piercings.
We can't have distracting hair colors (nothing that's not natural (blue, bright red, pink, etc.))
I dyed my hair dark blue last year and got in trouble.
i tried explaining to them that no one would want to dye their hair strange colors but me (because my school only has about 400 students and their all mostly preps).
i have naturally black hair so how can i dye it to look more punk?
it would have to be a natural color (like blonde, brown, natural red)
please give suggestions that can be done at home.

A lot of my clients are in school and have the same problem! I really like leaving the underneath your natural dark color and then either completely coloring the top really, really light (blonde) or putting huge light chunks in it. Blonde and brown are both natural colors! I wouldn't do red because of your skin tone and there is a fine line between natural red and a red color your school would say isn't natural!
hey i know whatcha mean. i got a pinkn streak and they flipped! try going brunette with chunky red streaks. the red would hav e to b darker tho
i would say with your black hair a metallic red
i would reccomend to buy something called manic panic.. it is a temporary hair dye that last for about a month..... i would reccomend to dye ur hair red and dye it on the bottom of your hair... or u can do streaks.... my friend did it on the side of her face!!! she looks so cool.. i did it and i did streaks along my hair..... it looked so cute!!!

that is EXACTLY how my school is about their dress code and etc. i just like to experiment with my hair so what i did was dye it a burgundy color. its a natural looking color but in the right light can appear to have a purple tint. i loved this color. try it over the summer and if it is not too obvious then you know that you can keep it for you school year! good luck and i hope it works out for you!

why dont you just bleach it and cut your hair short, i am sure their is alot of blondes their so they cant tell you anything.

Just bleach (or dye blonde) out a few strips of your hair and then add the natural red.
You can check Garnier hair colours,because I belive they have a line of natural hair colours like red,blonde,black and brown!

there are not realy alot of things that you can do from home and still have it look punk!! You can do something like beech your bangs or just the underneith!! You might want to try to just go to a salon and have it done!!!! Im in vegas come to me ill make your hair look punk!!!!

Just get a bleaching kit and take about an inch of hair and bleach it. But since your hair is so dark you might have to do this more than once.
And get someone to help you. Its so much easier :]

Bleach some streaks and keep them blonde or possibly dye them red or auburn in the front. Experiment with haircuts to change things up too.

honestly... i think u should just git a hair cut... plz DONT dye ur hair... i dyed mine... and believe me ur hair will git much weaker its just better 2 stick with ur natural hair color... also it depends wat age u r... if ur in ur early teens... u might not want 2 dye ur hair cuz when u actually want 2 when ur older... ur hair will be 2 weak... unless ur like 19 going on 20 soon then u might want to consider lite highlights...

Once you dye your hair you have to keep doing it. Its gonna look like you dumped a can of pain on your head if you dont get your roots done. Its gets expensive and it dries out your hair. You will most likely have frizzies. I dyed my hair when I was 15 for the first time. I med. brown hair and I went dark blond. I looked like a poodle. I am now 18 and finally my hair is my natural color smooth and silky because i havent dyed it since.

First, Great Clips is a descent place to get your hair cut. They do not do color.
Second, once you get your hair cut, continue to get a trim to clean things up every 6-8 weeks from now on.
Third, I would try temporary color first to see what works best before doing permanent color. Permanent color damages the hair and if you don't like it and want to change it there's even more damage. Temporary color gradually washes out and will last a certain amount of shampoos.
I have been dyeing my hair since i was quite young, i have no intention of stopping but i'm slightly worried as to what this will do to my hair in the long run. I have dark brown hair and only dye it a slightly lighter, golden brown, i have never bleached it. I used to use permanent dye but changed to temporary as i figured this wouldn't be as harsh on my hair, unfortunately they don't seem to have a very wide range of colours. Is temporary that much better than permanent? which are the least damaging dyes? and also, what ingredients do the most damage so i'll know what to look out for.

No hair dye is healthy - lots of studies have linked dye to bladder cancer and also various other nasty things!
That said, if you really love colouring your hair, you have a few options that are healthier than others:
1) Try henna; Lush apparently do some that are 'natural'.
2) Have highlights instead in the shade you like; that way the dye doesn't need to touch your scalp, and shouldn't go through your skin into your bloodstream.
3) Get hair dye from a health shop; it will still have chemicals in it, but perhaps a bit less; I believe it might have less or no Recorcinol in it, for example.
4) Dye your hair less often.
Ammonia and peroxide are the most damaging ingredients.
I think you should try "Natual Match"--it's permanent but ammonia-free.
You're right that semi-permanents are less damaging.
Good for you for not bleaching your hair, bleach is baaad.

it doesnt work as well (ie. not as permanent) but it does the job... and seeing as you constantly dye it, not being permanenet shouldn't make a difference?

Darker colours are better for your hair, as to get it lighter, bleach is used.
If you use permenant, you only use bi-monthly or so.
If you use temporary, you need to dye more often. - Not good

Recently, after months being a "blonde" and all the maintenence that goes with it, I dyed my hair a lovely chocolate brown. My hair is healthier than it's ever been and I have a renewed love for dark hair, especially as my skin is quite pale.
I love this colour (my hair is a bit longer than shoulder length) and I am very tempted to dye it raven black because I love the contrast of it against my skin.
I would only be using a semi-permanent, but my question is, after you dye your hair black, how long would it take to wash out? My normal hair colour is golden blonde/light brown.

I personally love black hair with pale skin.
Anyway, if you choose semi-permanent, depending on what brand, possibly 15 to 20 washes (temporary is 15 and under, while permanent is 20+, roughly). But it depends what you wash your hair with (colour shampoos etc) and the way you look after it.
Schwarzkopf is my favourite brand for hair dye and most hairstyling products.
Keep in mind that black hair is a pain to get out. Make sure willing to keep it or know the consequences of dying it black.
As a hairstylist i would not recommend coloring your hair black unless you plan to keep it that way.
semi permanent doesn't last very long. it too hard to keep up with. i would recommend not to do it. unless u really wanna keep up with it.
Well... I never went to cosmetology school, but an old roomate of mine had sandy blonde hair and went to black and it was almost a gray color once the die lightened, so be careful
ive dyed my hair from bright red to blonde ... but when i dyed it ... it went a orangy yellow colour ... but my roots have gone bright blonde i wsh all my hair was like that... do you think if i put another hair dye on it 2 morro will the colour change or go more orange .. its gone this colour because i recently dyed it red any red is a hard colour 2 get rid of :( the hair dye i use is live xxl ice blonde thanks x
I think if you keep doing drastic color changes and dyes like that to your hair ....you really won't need to worry about your roots or even you hair ...it will just be so damaged and brittle .....I would just go to a salon.....and stick with a color for awhile and allow your hair time to rest and get healthy again.

i say wait untill your hair get atleast more healthy or stronger. if you change your hair color so much you will end up lossing it. just get a treatment kit and do that first then dye it again

I had been dying it a very light blonde at thought i should go darker... so i went to my stylist and got it done, but it came out a light brown, which i HATED..
two days later I got so fed up that I bought a bottle of hair dye (bad idea, i know) and tried to dye it blonde..
it had little to no effect on my hair except the parts that my stylist highlighted, which turned GREYISH BLUEISH colour..
Anyway.. luckily the highlights are only on top so i can hide them by wearing my bangs up in a Puff on top of my head
but I want my blonde back
What should I do??
How long should I wait to get it dyed?
Is there any way I can dye it on my own?
I spent 130 dollars at the salon and I just don't have the money to get it professional for at least another 5 weeks

You should wait at least 6 weeks before you try to do anything again.

you need to go to a pro because now that you've messed with it and put so much color in it you need a corrective color. this cannot be done at home on your own!
go to the stylist, get an estimated price and time of when you can process your hair agin, if you continue to lighten it too much too quickly your hair will become frail and snap off
Keep up the puff and wait it out ......or suffer the hair loss

Well, I have naturally dark hair and I have dyed my hair blonde before so, the only advice I can give you is what I used...I used what they called born to be blonde(it bleachs your hair) and left it on for like a hour and half to two hours and then bought a blonde hair dye(color of blonde of your choice) and dyed it after I bleached it with the born to be blonde..Yes, it will make your hair dry but, It should bring back your blonde. Also, after bleaching it you want to make sure you let if dry throughly before using the other hair dye to tone it...GOOD LUCK...
