Hair Dye Disaster!!!?

I have naturally blonde hair (dark blonde)

I had been dying it a very light blonde at thought i should go darker... so i went to my stylist and got it done, but it came out a light brown, which i HATED..

two days later I got so fed up that I bought a bottle of hair dye (bad idea, i know) and tried to dye it blonde..

it had little to no effect on my hair except the parts that my stylist highlighted, which turned GREYISH BLUEISH colour..

Anyway.. luckily the highlights are only on top so i can hide them by wearing my bangs up in a Puff on top of my head

but I want my blonde back

What should I do??

How long should I wait to get it dyed?

Is there any way I can dye it on my own?

I spent 130 dollars at the salon and I just don't have the money to get it professional for at least another 5 weeks

Should I wait until then?

you need to go to a pro because now that you've messed with it and put so much color in it you need a corrective color. this cannot be done at home on your own!

go to the stylist, get an estimated price and time of when you can process your hair agin, if you continue to lighten it too much too quickly your hair will become frail and snap off

Well, I have naturally dark hair and I have dyed my hair blonde before so, the only advice I can give you is what I used...I used what they called born to be blonde(it bleachs your hair) and left it on for like a hour and half to two hours and then bought a blonde hair dye(color of blonde of your choice) and dyed it after I bleached it with the born to be blonde..Yes, it will make your hair dry but, It should bring back your blonde. Also, after bleaching it you want to make sure you let if dry throughly before using the other hair dye to tone it...GOOD LUCK...

if your just going darker wait a couple weeks. I am a hairdresser and it will be fine if you are just going darker. After all if you hate it you have to fix it. And soon! You will love it so much better and it will last longer and feel more healthy if you go to a really hairdresser. It is also a lot cheaper if you look at the outcome, because when you buy box color you have to constantly keep redoing it because the color didnt turn out or it just looks dull.

i heard if you dye your hair too much it will fall out. So try not to do it too much. But dying hair lighter takes out some good stuff in your hair and dying it darker just adds stuff. So good thing you're going darker.

About 2 months ago i stripped all color from my hair

it went clown orange

so i dyed it dark again and it was fine

it started to fade and the orange underneath came through

so i dyed it mahogonay but it looked like judt dark brown

IT WENT RED!

a bright pinky red.

So i dyed it with a plain dark dye a

AND NOW MY HAIR IS DARK PURPLE!!!!!!!

LOL.. the SAME thing happened to me in high school. I had my hair dyed blonde (at the hair salon) and then a few days later decided that I wanted it to be dark brown (and did it MYSELF!!) Needless to say.. it turned BRIGHT ORANGE!! It seriously looked like RUST!! LOL It was HORRIBLE!!

I went to the hair stylist and they literally had to take ALL the color out of my hair and bleach it to WHITE (REALLY WHITE) and then put color BACK into my hair!! It turned out fine in the end though THANK GOD!!

What is happening though is that your body chemistry is reacting to the chemicals in the hair dye. I am the same way... if I dye my hair brown then it ALWAYS turns a reddish color (just the way my body works!)

You have to tell your hair stylist that your body turns things ORANGE and to use a hair color that has NO RED (or the least amount of red possible) in it!! Even when you DO find the nice brown color that you want you should expect to still have hints of red in your hair (you wont be able to get it completely brown b/c of the chemistry in your body). A color that has worked for me in the past was called "Chocolate Cappacino!"

Best of luck and if all else fails go w/ a black instead of a brown... that way there is NO RED in the dye at all!

You need to strip it back again and this time make sure it is left on until it is blonde, not orange. This way when you put the brown over it, it won't go orange. The only other alternative is to grow it out and be patient xx

Hi this happend to me, a few weeks back when I did it with a pre lightener, which I should of use bleach instead of but never mind.

if you keep putting on reddy colour dyes like mahogany then it will go red, and react with other dyes same happend to me.

I went to the hair dressers to get it sorted and they did a good job onit, as all the deep red in my hair and the orange is now all gone. So when you have the money see a hairdresser.

in the mean time try garnier nutrisse dark golden brown and see how you go

You have severally over processed your hair. Stop dumping color on top of color. Go directly to a salon...do not pass go...do not collect $200...just go see a professional. There may not be much that they can do other then try and use a color earser such as phantom...cross your fingers and pray. Let this be a lesson to use a professional to do your hair.

Use a color wheel!!! Opposite of purple is green/yellow. That is the base color of the formula you should be putting in your hair to cancel out any unwanted tones and use 10 vol peroxide.

Better yet, go to a professional, the amount of money you have spent so far on trying to fix the mistake, could've been taken care of for probably the same amount of money the first time around.

okay i have dark brown hair %26amp; it's impossible to dye my hair! i mean i've tried so many times to make my hair a dark red but it only makes my natural highloghts a bit redder.

it there a certain brand that works better for brunetts then the rest?

I have naturally dark brown hair too and there is this dye at Sally Beauty if you have one near you ... it uses an emulsifier first (this purple container thing) usually i use the 6% or 3 % one ... and you mix it in with the color, and then i just use and old toothbrush to sift it through my hair ... then plastic bag it , leave it on about 50 minutes and the color is so natural and perfect, and even when it begins to fade in a month or two it still looks pretty ^^ and it only costs about 4 bucks for the color and 3 for the emulsifier ... i usually took the medium red brown... or light red brown and it works great the brand is called Ion Color Brilliance .... its absolutely amazing, and after you wash the color out, it actually leaves your hair soft and moist ... AMAZING

You probably need to lighten your hair first so that the colour will show up.

The other possibility is that the colour IS showing up, but only when your hair is shining in the sun... so you can't see it in the bathroom when you look in the mirror.

I dont know about dyeing hair because i never did it but my sister tried for an aborn color but wanted to dye her hair again to dark brown from before,and it ended up being orange.So i dont really trust dye from a box from the store but ask your hair stylest and ask her what would work for you.maybe you'll get luck!

Hair Dye Dilemma; Please Help?

So I got it in my mind that I wanted to lighten my hair. I started with a box of the L'Oreal preference especially for dark brown hair; and after using it, it had done nothing. My hair was the same old color. I used a highlighting kit to add highlights, and they came out orange. Upset with the results, I used ColorOops to remove all of the mess I made, and then I used an ash brown semi-permanent dye. Now I am left with a head of copper-ish brown hair, and a whole world of stress.

I don't have the money to have it corrected at the salon. Someone suggested two options to me: (1) use a bleach blonding kit to lighten the hair to its yellow stage, and then use a toner over it to achieve the color I desired originally, or (2) use a darker brown semi-permanent dye, and get it back toward my original color.

What do you suggest? I would really like to hear from someone with experience as a colorist or with hair.

First thing give your a break!!! Deep condtion with a leave in and leave on for 20 minutes and then rinse. Try not to apply any product to your like mousse gel anything like that. Then after 3-5 days see what condtion your hair is in. If when you try and stretch your hair it breaks your hair is not ready yet for another chemical process. when your hair remains slightly flexible it is ok to color or lighten it. You can lighten to that yellow base which is a level 9 but your hair will be very brittle. I recommened using a demi-perment color. You can purchase this at Sally's. Also there is a additive called no gold or no brass add this to the solution using 20 vol devloper. That way you wont have brassiness in your color unless your want the color to be on the warm side. After you color please....deep condtion weekly. I rrecommened a product from Bed Head or Redken (anti snap). gOOD lUCK

With really dark hair I would go to a salon. Trying to lighten dark hair is very tricky...it can turn out green.

It depends on what look you want to achieve - if you want to have a serious, strong, confident image (A. Jolie?) go a few shades darker than your natural color.

If you want to be more fun, easy-going, adventurous (j.Aniston?) go a few shades lighter.

Make sure that you dont change your colour in an unrecognizable way - it only works in the movies, where it is done by a team of hair and make-up stylists. In real life, you will just look stupid (been there myself). Nature knows what suits you the best, you just might want to spice it up a little and perfect it, but dont change who you are.

Try asking a good stylist what colour will be good for you - they usually have a whole album to choose from and usually they know better.

you really should stay within a few shades of you natural color. you can go lighter but it will probably require bleaching. which is time consuming not to mention harsh on the hair. you can go a shade or two lighter without orange tones if you stay within just a couple of shades. you really should go to a salon but if you must do it yourself try loreal natural match which helps you with shade matching or loreal color experte. that one has great color and highlights in one kit. good luck!

It can be done! I know, I'm a professional, lol

First: Bleach! Get a bleach kit, they run about $10

2. Follow the directions...for the most part. I'm assuming you don't have color on your hair as of now. If that's true, just leave it on until it light enough for you (it may be orange, but we'll get to that). If you do have color on your hair, you have to put the bleach on avoiding your new growth. Bleach works faster on "virgin" hair. When the rest of your hair matches your roots, put bleach on the rest and again, leave it on until it light enough.

3. Don't be shocked if its orange. You also need a box of ASH blonde in the shade you want. Now color your hair. It will be fine. This process is also known as "toning". I say to use an ash because ash means green. Green is complimentary to orange/red, so when they mix, they neutralize.

4. USE that conditioner after both processes! It's there for a reason. And I recommend Garnier Color. I've never had a problem with it on any of my clients.
