I started off will medium brown hair. Kinda mouse brown.

Then I died it chesnut brown and ended up with reddish medium brown coloured hair which I liked but now I want my old hair colour back. So...

I died it back to medium brown and now it is more brownish and natural looking but there is still some red there and it is slightly darker than my natural colour.

I want blonde highlights and I don't want to have a band where I have grown out the hair dye.

What should I do to go back to my original colour and if I had it dyed at the hairdressers back to roughly my normal colour and had highlights would people notice the slight difference between my roots and normal hair colour underneath the highlighrts?

Sorry about my complex questiion but I appreciate all suggestions.

leave it alone it will fade . you are putting color over color that has different tones . all natural hair color have all different tones in it . beige ,red , ash . But if you insist on putting more color on , make sure you get a level 2 shades lighter than your have on now and have bit in a neutral brown . you will always have roots (or regrowth ) as the pros call it . i personally wouldn't touch your hair because of everything you have on it . and wanting high lights would make your hair even more dangerous to work with

well ya your question is difficult 1st i guess i could tell you the best way to get hair back to it's original color.

1-find the closest hair dye to you original color and maybe test it first if you'd feel more comfortable.

2-dye it the closest color you found.

3- if you want highlights put in a good color for your hair.

and no nobody should be able to tell that slight of a difference and just let your hair grow out and before you know it you'll be back to you original color!!!!!!!! good luck!!!!!! :)

I would not keep putting more dye on to get back to your natural color, the more chemicals you put on the more damage you are doing to the hair shaft, called over processing which in turn will make your hair more porous and the colour will be darker as porous hair will grab the colour faster than the roots. If you put bleach on top of damaged hair it will break as you have broken too many bonds in the hair shaft. Wait for a bit use good conditioner to get hair back in to good condition.

Ok, so about 2 weeks ago, I dyed my bangs red w/ Loreal Color Rays Red Rays. Im preforming a dance in front of my church on 4th of July, and I need to dye my hair a diff color(im not allowed to have the red). I really really reallyyy wanna dye my hair light brown. Right now, the bangs are the red, the actual hair is Loreal Soft Black(my natural color, but dyed), and the roots are now Ultra Light Ash Brown(because the brown did not take to the actual hair).

Does anybody know a light brown hair dye that will take to my dark hair, AND ESPECIALLY THE RED?!?!

Sadly without stripping your hair you can only go darker than the actual color your hair is dyed right now. You can buy color stripper at the store but I have never used it so I don't know how well it works. But once you strip it you can use any color. Also be warned stripping and bleaching tend to damage your hair. So be careful. The only other hair colorI can think of that you can try is Clairol Hydrience. It comes with some stuff you apply right before coloring that is supposed to make the color stick to your hair better and more even. Good luck.

Im asian and I have naturally black hair, but light black hair. I dyed my hair light brown a few months ago and now i want to dye it back to its natural color. I dont want to buy black hair dye because i heard its really hard to take out the black if you wanna dye your hair lighter. So can anyone tell me the brand or the name of a hair color product that has the darkest brown color and won't fade or dry out my hair?

Revlon L'oreal are both pretty good, but usually dark colours fade a bit quicker than lighter ones. My hair is naturally dark brown and I dye it black (permanent dye) which lasts about 4 maybe 5 weeks before it fades back to brown. I also suggest using semi-permanent dye. It lasts about the same as permanent dyes (especially when dyeing hair darker shades) and is A LOT less harsh on your hair than the permanent dyes, leaving your hair lovelyyyyyy and NOT dry! = )

I'm about to bleach a few streaks of my hair in order to dye them, my question is after i'm done bleaching, the package says "rinse hair in warm water", i want to know what i should do, should i wait until my hair is dry again and then dye it? or should i not rinse my hair and just apply the dye to my just bleached hair. please help me? i know i'm not supposed to blow dry so that's not an option...ARHG, help!

Never apply dye on wet hair or freshly clean %26amp; dried hair. Dye should be applied on hair that hasn't been washed in one or two days so that it is not filthy, but holds in some oils.

So, i'd wait a day before I dye it after bleaching it.

My first suggestion is not to bleach!!!! But if you must do it on clean dry hair. Then wash out. Follow with a deep conditioner.

Bleach the hair, rinse the bleach out, BLOWDRY your hair and then apply the dye. You can use the blowdryer to dry your hair or let it air dry. It has to be completely dry in order to dye it. Make sure you condition afterwards...you are double processing so be sure to condition.

you should rinse the dye out in warm water and then let it dry before you dye it again. if you don't follow the directions it might not turn out.

if you want to dye them the hair has to be dry. therefore you can take a hair dryer to it. DONT PUT ANY DYE ON WET BLEACHED HAIR.

I have recently dyed my hair red. My natural hair colour is blonde so now that the dye is starting to fade its coming through very clearly, however i have washed my hair frequently in a number of days and i still cant get the dye out. It's only meant to be a 11 wash one.

you can't.... if your hair was dyed before u put the temporary dye in. . it could be permanent. it's only semi permanent on virgin hair. . . it says so on the box. your gonna have to bleach it out . . and red is a pain to get out. . . it stays forever

I think the only way that you'll get rid of it completely is to go to the hairdressers. They should be able to chemically strip your hair of the colour. Apart from that, you'll probably have to wait for it to grow out!

Go to a beauty supply store (Sally) and get a color remover. it isn't as harsh as bleach and it will take out only the red color. it won't hurt your blond.

Get yourself a clarifying shampoo. Back to Basics makes a really good one; so does Herbal Essences. Wash your hair a few times with either product. I read in Self magazine that if you put a clarifying shampoo on dry hair before you wash, you'll be able to start breaking down the residue.

If the clarifier doesn't work, go to a professional and they'll use a solution to help dissolve the dye. Good luck!

Hi I had this problem when I put a semi permenant dye over my blonde hair, as hair is more porus in more places than others the semi permantants stick to these bits of the hair causing the colour to stay in these places for longer. I tried to bleach mine out and it didnt work as red is as hard to get out of your hair as much as black is.It will fade but you have to be patient as if you are not you will ruin your hair trying to get the dye out of your hair.

I know a girl who dyed her hair with a semi one halloween and all the colour wasnt washed out until february the year after,but she would never think of bleaching it out as she just waited it out and washed it and it eventually faded.

I think sometimes semi dyes last longer than the permenant ones. I recommend using Pantene Ice Shine as any pantene products help to fade hair colour, it did on mine and the colour is nearly out and I only dye it about 2 weeks ago. I would wash your hair at least 3 times everytime you wash it.

So I would defiantly recommend leaving it alone for the time being, as I am now paying the price for having dyed and redyed my hair and bleaching it and dyeing over and over again to sort the mess out.And now Im having to spend a fortune onhair products and trips to the hairdresser to get my hair in shape and its not good.

One hairdresser told me to use a green shampoo and this neutralises the red, It did fade it alot but it still didnt get rid of it. But I only use mine for 2 weeks, so if you use a green shampoo a when you wash your hair then you might see a better result.

So you can redye over it with any hair dye as the red always showed through the only time I went to the hairdressers to get my hair back to blonde was when I had red semi in it and it she tryed to tone it down using a brown and it didnt work and you dont want to be going darker if your hair is naturally blonde.

If you want the best advice have a word at your hairdressers, just to see what there advice is. but I wouldnt let them touch it if they start saying we can do this to it and that too it. Still let it fade out as it will fade eventually. but once hairdressers start touching it you might end up with all different colours in your hair like I did.

I had an illergic reaction to hair-dye about seven months ago. The first time, I dyed it black, and nothing happened. Then gradually everytime I dyed it black to top up my colour, I started getting scabs on my neck and behind my ear. About the third time I dyed it my head was very sore, then finally the fourth time my head swelled up and I was admitted to hospital where I was put on steroids. When I had red highlights in my hair, I had no reaction. Can I dye my hair again or how do I know what colours I am illergic too ?

As More Teens Use Hair Color, Incidence of Allergies Increases

Feb. 2007 -- Tattoos and body piercings are so yesterday. These days the hottest fashion trend among teens is hair that screams in shocking colors like Napalm Orange, Atomic Pink, and Electric Blue.

Some parents may breathe a sigh of relief; even the most "permanent" dye job isn't as permanent as a tattoo, or a pierced lip or tongue. But as more and more young people color their hair, the incidence of hair dye allergies is also increasing, warns a group of European dermatologists.

The culprit is a common chemical ingredient in permanent hair dyes, called para-phenylenediamine, or PPD. PPD is found in more than two-thirds of commercial dyes, the researchers say, including many of the top-selling brands. Patients with severe PPD reactions commonly develop painful rashes around the hair line or on the face, which often require treatment and can occasionally lead to hospitalization. Facial swelling is also common.

Many Don't Seek Treatment

In his own London clinic, dermatologist John P. McFadden saw a doubling of PPD reactions over the past six years. "Dermatologists report anecdotally that the frequency of positive reactions to PPD on patch testing is increasing," McFadden and colleagues write in an editorial published in the Feb. 3 issue of BMJ.

Last October, editorial co-author Heidi Sosted of the University of Copenhagen reported on eight cases of severe hair dye reactions among teens between the ages of 12 and 15.

Reactions were so serious that five of the teens had to be hospitalized, and one reportedly ended up in intensive care. In an earlier study, Sosted and colleagues examined the frequency of hair dye reactions in a sample population of 4,000 adults living in Denmark.

A total of 18% of the men and 75% of the women said they had used hair dyes, and slightly over 5% said they had experienced allergic reactions to them. But only 15% of those who had allergic reactions reported seeking medical treatment.

"Wider debate on the safety and composition of hair dyes is overdue -- among medical and scientific communities, the public and legislators," McFadden, Sosted, and colleagues write in the BMJ editorial.

"Cultural and commercial pressures to dye hair and, perhaps, the widespread obsession with the 閳ユulture of youth' are putting people at risk and increasing the burden on health services."

Always follow the skin allergy test on the directions of the hair dye. Even if you've dyed your hair the same color with the same brand for years. I would suggest not dying your hair again if your reaction was so bad last time that you ended up in the hospital. Too risky. Maybe try some natural hair dyes. There are some henna products out there that don't have the same chemicals in them. But again, even if you use these natural dyes, do the skin allergy thing first.

Last night I decided to dye my platinum blonde hair medium brown using a semi-permanant hair dye that is supposed to wash out in 10 washes.

There should be a "help" number on the box you can call. I dyed my hair a nice shade of green (it was meant to be light brown) and called and they told me exactly how to correct it, and it worked.

Yes you can but you want to make sure you use a good hair color. The semi permanent color will work like a filler so you permanent color will hold on better. Your best bet is to get it done professionally but if not a possibility for you take your time in applying the color process as directed. Make sure all hair is coated so that it looks even %26amp; not spotty! Good luck!
